Your Halloween Blackface Warning

Halloween is coming and I know some of you are already planning your costumes…

I say this every year but y’all don’t listen… DO NOT DO BLACKFACE!

Do not do any offensive cultural costume. You want to dress up, as someone that is not the same race as you… fine, just do not apply brown makeup to your skin.

DO NOT DO IT!

Just wear outfits, be creative. You want to be Bruce Lee. Then dress like him, wear a wig… However, do not use tape to slant your eyes… DO NOT DO IT!

Want to be Shaft, wear and Afro wig, put on a leather jacket and a fake mustache… but no brown makeup… PLEASE… for your own well-being. I do not want to see you on the news Nov. 1st being called a racist. I do not want to see you on the news, crying, saying you did not know, because I am telling you know.

It is avoidable… you see I am warning you… I am trying to help.

No “Whiteface” either… It’s offensive and corny and nobody thinks it’s funny. Just don’t do it.

And if you are dressed up as a Native American, you better have a cop, a sailor, and a construction worker with you singing YMCA.
